Navigating the real estate market—whether you're relocating to a new city or seeking to expand your business—can often feel overwhelming. This is where referrals come into play, acting as a bridge to trusted professionals who can guide you through the process with expertise and care.
You might wonder, "Isn't it easy enough to find an agent online?" While it is possible to find agents via a quick Google search, this approach can be hit or miss. By working with an agent you already know and trust to guide you for specific referrals, you gain access to a network of professionals who are not only knowledgeable about their local markets but also have been pre-vetted to have a proven track record of success.
Consider this: 43% of home buyers used an agent recommended to them by a friend, neighbor, or family member[5]. This shows that when it comes to making one of life's biggest financial decisions, people trust personal recommendations over online searches.
Now consider, what if that referral had been attached to a trusted acquaintance who also had a background in the real estate industry. They are likely even further able to refine the candidates to help pick out the best of the bunch when it comes to agent support.
The (2) most asked questions I get when I refer out business:
"What do you get out of this, Alie- Do you get compensated?"
"Why won't you take me on as a client directly?"
In terms of compensation, when I connect you with a trusted colleague, that agent in turn compensates me for helping their business and connecting them with a great (and vetted!) client. Sound familiar...?😊
As the client, you do not pay me directly nor does using my referral incur additional costs to you. My compensation is negotiated (by me) directly with the agent in which I referred your business. They will negotiate their own compensation with you like any other service.
When I refer out clients, it is often because I do not have jurisdiction and/or specific market expertise in an area they require. Each state, and even regions within some states, have their own requirements for licensure as well as varying market behaviors. In these cases, it is imperative that I connect you with an agent who is well-versed (and legal to help!) in that specific market. It would be unethical for me to take on a client personally in a market I do not have expertise.
The blessing is that though I may not be able to personally help you buy or sell in every market, my real estate knowledge can help quickly sort through agents in hyper-specific markets that I do not service personally. With colleagues stationed around the globe, many times I will already know a great agent in your area! In other cases, I am able to interview relevant candidates on your behalf and ensure they are "the real deal" before wasting your time on an agent that is not worth their weight.
When I refer you to another agent, it's not simply a random selection. It's a thoughtful process where I take into account your specific needs—whether you're looking for a family home in a vibrant neighborhood or the ideal location for your new business venture. I strive to match you with someone who aligns perfectly with your requirements.
Additionally, because of the established referral relationship between me and my colleagues, you can be confident that the agent I connect you with will go above and beyond to meet your needs.
As you consider your next move—whether it involves relocating or expanding your business—remember that referrals can be an invaluable resource. They connect you with real estate professionals who are equipped to make your experience as seamless as possible.
